E mre Osmanlar is a designer and creator of beautiful things – interiors, art, furniture and jewellery. Hailing from a historical dynasty that dates back to Osman, founder of the Ottoman Empire, Emre Osmanlar was born on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus and now spends his time between London and Istanbul, where he has built up a global and renowned client base.

Growing up immersed in such a rich heritage fashioned his aesthetics, and he naturally draws on these cultural influences in his work – infusing modern world luxuries with the ancient stories of the past. He attributes a multi-cultural upbringing and childhood travels to visit the palaces and castles of Europe as being fundamental to his architectural and artistic influences and vision.

Emre Osmanlar is an acclaimed designer through many mediums including jewellery and interiors, with design houses in Istanbul, Paris, London, Nicosia and Riyadh

One of Emre Osmanlar’s most acclaimed pieces of work to date is the restoration of the oldest bookshop and library in Nicosia, Cyprus. Located in an original Ottoman building within the old city, Emre Osmanlar’s vision focused on highlighting the stunning architectural elements to restore the building to its original glory and create a harmony and continuity through time through the mix of contemporary and antique materials and objects.

“A ‘Developed Eye’ is the key to creating small but remarkable pieces of jewellery or when working on large-scale architectural projects”

Emre’s body of work is wide-ranging in style and modern in sensibility. The idea of Interior Design is to create harmony and coherence along with irony always including a bit of confusion and a great surprise at the end. Emre works his way into the straight lines and discipline of symmetry and proportions whenever possible introducing a sense of history and voluptuousness even in modernist structures.

“My idea of good architecture is based on simple natural forms. Built by noble but not expensive materials. For me luxury is defined by comfort and simplicity that comes along with it. I believe there is minimalism even in the base of most elaborate designs. I like that core and the sensual lines that complement and surround it. Architecture is a process and a relationship.”
